The comment below is years old and indeed doesn't seem to be the case anymore (which is good!). The Content-Type HTTP header *does* get changed, but does not (for me at least!) have the trailing //TRANSLIT or //IGNORE or what-have-you: <?php iconv_set_encoding("internal_encoding","UTF-8"); iconv_set_encoding("output_encoding","ISO-8859-1//TRANSLIT"); ob_start("ob_iconv_handler"); ?> Will send a Content-Type HTTP header of "ISO-8859-1" which is perfectly valid. ---- Server IP: 87.124.126.138 Probable Submitter: 86.179.89.255 (proxied: 86.179.89.255) ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.ob-iconv-handler.php Edit -- https://master.php.net/note/edit/105552 Del: integrated -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105552/integrated Del: useless -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105552/useless Del: bad code -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105552/bad+code Del: spam -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105552/spam Del: non-english -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105552/non-english Del: in docs -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105552/in+docs Del: other reasons-- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105552 Reject -- https://master.php.net/note/reject/105552 Search -- https://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
