You could be to install mysql server from rpm packages (http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/)
# rpm -i <package>
MySQL-client-5.5.18-1.el6.x86_64.rpm
MySQL-devel-5.5.18-1.el6.x86_64.rpm
MySQL-shared-compat-5.5.18-1.el6.x86_64.rpm
MySQL-server-5.5.18-1.el6.x86_64.rpm
Then, you could install php with the next parameter:
# ./configure --with-apxs2=/path/to/apxs --with-mysql=mysqlnd --with-mysqli=mysqlnd
--with-pdo-mysql=mysqlnd
