JSP isn't a language. Java isn't strictly compiled. It needs a runtime system. Java is
faster, no doubt. But there's a reason many of the top 100 Web apps use a lot PHP
* Facebook
* Wikipedia
* Yahoo!
PHP is an extremely good language for beginners. Its supereasy to write a quick webapp with PHP. Its
quick and rich.
Lets not get into language wars. But its quite, reasonable to think that so many people using PHP in
so many successful apps weren't dumb when they made choice and they probably had a very sound
reason.
