Note Submitter: hrregisterthu at gmail dot com ---- according to my understanding, calling mysql_insert_id() with link identifier is suggested but not required if you are not using transaction, since the connect is kept open in the whole execution of script unless you called mysql_close(). see notes in mysql_connection manual page.
