Daniel,
Thanks, I finally managed to join the list :-)
Regarding your question, much of the session documentation was quite
incomplete until recently with very little insight to the session internals
and workflow, a problem evidenced by the sheer extent of notes in this
area. As such, there are many notes with user's experiments trying to
figure out what was supposed to happen or work with strange issues when
using objects as save handlers - all in all making the documentation
difficult and confusing. When you look around at various PHP projects,
they are often doing very strange things with sessions because of
incomplete/inaccurate/confusing documentation (and notes). I spent a few
weeks working on the docs to clarify this much misunderstood area after
studying the PHP internals.
Now that the session documentation has this information clearly specified
in the various functions and classes with extensive examples and warnings
etc., I have been cleaning up some of the user notes relating to this
because they are now unnecessary, duplicate what is now documented, or
potentially confusing.
Regards,
Drak
