edit on 'superentities' function below...
It has a blind-spot for backslashes, but is quite fast. 10x faster than encoding all to numeric
entities, then html_decode()-ing them into latin1, then recoding in UTF-8 (same result).
Also, possibly doing bit-wise comparisons might be better than if(ord)
