My rendition of a function that validates email addresses.
<?php
function validate_EmailAddress($email) {
return
is_string($email) &&
!empty($email) &&
eregi("^[a-z0-9_-]+[a-z0-9_.-]*@[a-z0-9_-]+[a-z0-9_.-]*\.[a-z]{2,5}$", $email);
}
?>
