Elements on the left-hand side that don't have a corresponding element on the right-hand side
will be set to NULL. For example,
<?php
$y = 0;
list($x, $y) = array("x");
var_dump($x);
var_dump($y);
?>
Results in:
string(1) "x"
NULL
