This may not be a surprise to anybody (it was to me) you can not use a string with array_slice,
array_push, array_pop, etc. Much like you have the ability to do the following:
<?php
$str = "PHP is cool";
echo $str[2]; // Returns P
?>
You can't use strings with array_slice.
