The answer to the problem of different browsers handling cookies differently: There is none!
I conducted a test, running 10 different ways of setting cookies, and not a single way of setting
cookies worked consistently on every browser encountered in the wild.
Our solution was to use multiple ways of setting cookies in conjunction to ensure that the cookie
would be set in all types of browsers.
