I was experiencing session/cookie behavior that led me to this page, but it turned out that I was
setting a cookie for www.example.com AND example.com, although I have no idea how this happened.
After explicitly setting my domain in session_set_cookie_params() I was trouble-free. I hope this
helps someone!
