The problem with most of these boolval implementations is that they handle 'false'
(string) as a truthy value:

!!'true' : true
!!'false' : true
!!'null' : true
!!null : false
(bool)'true' : true
(bool)'false' : true
(bool)'null' : true
(bool)null : false
