I was having problems converting a string date to a storable date. If anyone's interested,
here's how I did it:
$newsplit = explode("/", $mydate);
$gooddate = date("Y-m-d",mktime(0,0,0,$newsplit[0],$newsplit[1],$newsplit[2]));
