You must not, never ever use utf8_encode() and utf8_decode(). If you need multibyte conversion utility, use iconv() instead. At the very least, you will get a notification, if your string can not be converted. utf8_* crap, like other crap of this nature, is ONLY SUPPORTING ONE CONVERSION.
