Does anyone know how long the persistant connections are left around? i see the following process for about 4-5 seconds after using a pconnect() (and then doing nothing immediately after). %ps -ax 12548 ? S 0:00 /usr/local/pgsql/bin/postgres localhost http dbname idle If they are sure to always die within a matter of 5 seconds, I might use them (since the number of processes is limited). If this is not guaranteed, no way. I see nothing in the documentation addressing this - only that you can limit the number of pconnects via the directive "pgsql.max_persistent" -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/features.persistent-connections.php http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=edit+16665 http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+16665 http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=reject+16665
