Sending an image to a user's browser requires that you first send the HTML page headers. You
can't send headers unless those headers are the very first output that your script produces.
Some program editors include 1 or more unicode "byte order marker" characters at the very
top of the file. You can't see them in a normal text editor but they show up in a hex editor.
If you have a problem with an image that won't display properly, it may be because these byte
order marker characters are being sent before the script, which means that headers aren't being
sent correctly. If this happens, check your PHP script file (and any include files) with a text
editor and remove any stray characters (byte order markers and any other white space) from before
the <?php line.
