I use the following concept for quick "plugin" of multiple argument support.

function increment($n) {
$p = func_get_args();
if (count($p) > 1) {
return array_map(__FUNCTION__, $p);
}
$n =& $p[0];
return ++$n;
}
list($two, $three, $four) = increment(1,2,3);
?>
