https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=78346 After upgrading from v7.3.3 to v7.3.7 it appears nested "php tags" inside a string are no longer being stripped correctly by strip_tags(). This is still working in v7.3.3, v7.2 & v7.1. I've added a simple test below. Test script: --------------- <?php $str = '<?= \'<?= 1 ?>\' ?>2'; var_dump(strip_tags($str)); Expected result: ---------------- string(1) "2" Actual result: -------------- string(5) "' ?>2" ---- Server IP: 208.43.231.9 Probable Submitter: 185.85.3.195 (proxied: 94.140.174.189) ---- Manual Page -- http://php.net/manual/en/function.strip-tags.php Edit -- https://master.php.net/note/edit/124181 Del: integrated -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/124181/integrated Del: useless -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/124181/useless Del: bad code -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/124181/bad+code Del: spam -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/124181/spam Del: non-english -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/124181/non-english Del: in docs -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/124181/in+docs Del: other reasons-- https://master.php.net/note/delete/124181 Reject -- https://master.php.net/note/reject/124181 Search -- https://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
