<p>Hmm--seems like there are some misconceptions with regards to ASP and VB.</p>
<p>There has been mention that you must purchase any additional objects that you need. While
it is true that ASP doesn't have some of the capabilities that you may want, many of them are
available for free (with source code) from places like planetsourcecode.com. A scripting language
shouldn't be everything to everybody.</p> <p>Also, ASP doesn't require a new
com object for every instance of the page that you load--it can do that if you want, but that
isn't recommended for obvious reasons.</p> <p>One of ASPs strengths is its support
for and interaction with COM objects--PHP is limited in this aspect (but its getting
better).</p> <p>I am a linux supporter who is stuck programming in a Microsoft world.
Linux will continue to be the ugly step child until its developers are able to realisticly analyze
other technologies and implement their features--we should take the best from all worlds, not trash
them. There is a reason why there are over 3 million VB developers (and it's not because they
can't code in anything else!--check out Dan Appleman for starters).</p>
