----
The best way on windows to open a process then to let the php script continue is to call your
process with the start command then to kill the "start" process and let your program run.
<?
$descriptorspec = array(
0 => array("pipe", "r"), // stdin
1 => array("pipe", "w"), // stdout
2 => array("pipe", "w") // stderr
);
$process = proc_open('start notepad.exe', $descriptorspec, $pipes);
sleep(1);
proc_close($process);
?>
The start command will be called then open notepad, after 1 second the "start" command
will be killed but the notepad will still opened and your php script can continue!
