actually it *does* work on PHP 5.0.2 (tested), and should also work on PHP 4.3.x (untested). Also
the documentation does not state that only calls to static class methods are possible, but it says
clearly that calls to OBJECT (thats dynamic) methods are possible: http://cz.php.net/manual/en/language.pseudo-types.php
