no at mail dot com posted a bizarre (to me) fix for Windows users 6 years ago, suggesting adding the
characters " 2>&1" to send the output to a file. Well, darn if it doesn't
still work 6 years, several versions of Windows, and of PHP, later (and nothing else seems to work).
If this isn't black magic I don't know what is!
