Also, when you have a password that contains characters such as the dollar sign ($), they need to be
escaped.
For instance:
$link = mysql_pconnect ("localhost", "root", "pa\$\$word");
I hope this will help those of you who chose convoluted passwords. It took me a while to figure this
out!
