Well just to add appon getting mySQL types. The way i do it is...
$mytable = "whatever";
$mydatabase = "whatever";
$type = mysql_db_query($mydatabase, "SHOW FIELDS FROM $mytable") or mysql_die();
while($row = mysql_fetch_array($type))
{
echo "Field<br>".$row[Field];
echo "Type<br>".$row[Type];
}
