I really understand that the Php interpreter has to evolve. And for that, it now has to throw away
some old structurally limiting features (e.g. set $_GLOBALS). But, a.m.h.o., it's not normal
that there's a kind of "regression policy" in each last release interpreter, which
stupidly and simply forgets to run older scripts which where working with its previous releases.
This isn't utopian: there are good compilers that use, for example, compiler directives to
continue to generate binaries with older grammatical structures and turns of phrase that have become
deprecated in the course of their evolution too, but that can be marked up so that the said compiler
"starts" again to compile such parts of source code again, as it did before.
Regards.
