If you are having trouble with the pathname, use:
echo dirname( __FILE__ );
That will show you the pathname of the current script and you will be able to use that to see where
you have to start your pathname.
I tried forever to do mkdir('dirname') and was getting permission denied. I can see now
its because it was trying to create that folder up at home when i wanted it down in public_html.
I hope this saves someone some time.
