NOTE for users of PHP 4.0.6 (and possibly higher): If you designate a decimal character, you MUST also designate a thousands character or you get a parse error. Previous versions of PHP would allow the thousands operator to be optional. The docs are incorrect to show that the thousands character is optional outside of the decimal character. You can however still do: number_format($yournumber,2); number_format($yournumber); You just CANT DO: number_format($yournumber,2,'.'); That must be written like: number_format($yournumber,2,'.',''); Go figure.
