Security of MD5 for hashing passwords:
one guy had access to hashes of passwords of my users - during a month, he cracked 450 of them.
Using 40MB wordlist and distributed password cracker (his own program - making 2.5M tries per second
- running on 5 common machines), the results were:
Cracked in less than 1 minute: 45.3%
Cracked in less than 20 minutes: 63.4%
Cracked in less than 1 week: 75.6%
