Regarding the sort order...
Under *nix, files are placed in the file system in the order that they are created. Therefore, you
get the oldest first.
Under NTFS, files are *always* stored in the file system in alphabetical order, no matter what the
creation date.
So, when the read() command pulls the next file, it merely depends on your file system. FAT32
servers probably give a slightly random order, NTFS servers give alphabetical, and *nix servers give
date order.
