To avoid the common pitfall of no data communication from this shutdown function, consiter putting some info to shared memory for access later via a script that does a meta refresh every 15-20 seconds. this will give you any closing info you might need/want to finalize debuging your application without having to implement include()'s at the termination point of your code.
