ok, I haven't tried it yet, but I think they mean the following,
say you create a graphic ($id) and you want to render transparent anything red in that graphic, you
could do the following:
$id = imagecreate(100,100);
$red = ImageColorAllocate($id, 255, 0, 0);
$trans = imagecolortransparent($id, $red);
