when you are writing to shared memory, previous bytes are overwritten and the whole string is not
replaced.
<pre>
$shm_id = shmop_open(0xff3, "c", 0644, 100);
$bytes_written = shmop_write($shm_id, "my shared memory block", 0);
$second_write = shmop_write($shm_id, "foobar", 0);
$my_string = shmop_read($shm_id, 0, 100);
echo $my_string;
</pre>
will print "foobarred memory block"
