I got around not being able to pass MDA's with array_push by faking it. I simply do
<?
$myarray[foo] = "test1";
$myarray[foo] = "$myarray[foo] test2";
$myarray[foo] = "$myarray[foo] test3";
print "$myarray[foo]\n";
?>
this will yield,
$ php -qe arraytest.php
test1 test2 test3
$
