There is one problem that can occur then making your includes have a ".php" extension.
If within the .php include file you make decisions based on the location of the current page (ie:
$HTTP_HOST.$PHP_SELF;) then the php within the include is executed before the include itself, so
that variable would return:
www.blah.com/my/ssi/is/here/include.php
Instead of the page that is including the file itself, as that is probably the one you would want to
return.
