It is normal, that in PHP4 you should use a backslash before the curly brackets, as PHP4 includes
support for variable variable names...
So that, in PHP4;
<?php
$test="testing...";
$varname="test";
echo ${$varname}."\n\n";
---
this will print:
testing...
that's why
imap_open("{localhost/pop3:110}INBOX"...)
will NOT work
