Automatic creation of variables named after form input fields (ie. $mailadr = value) is not the
standard modus operandi on a freshly compiled PHP4. You only get $HTTP_*_VARS['mailadr'] =
value. You must set "register globals = on" in php.ini to use the first method.
This is mentioned somewhere else in the manual, although not in the configuration chapter.
