Sometimes it's a solution to use:
$chem = str_repeat( "../" , substr_count( str_replace( $DOCUMENT_ROOT,
"",dirname($SCRIPT_FILENAME) ) ,"/" ) );
exemple: include($chem."scripts/functions.php");
