Fair enough... Yes, that's true; it all depends on your setup.
I wasn't thinking about all the other configurations, since at the time I only used PHP with
Unix/Apache, as an Apache module (running as CGI is pretty inefficient), and the default
configuration is user "nobody". That's pretty much the most popular PHP combination,
and where people often seem to be having trouble with file permissions.
