Well, 'strings & special characters' which can be pretty unclear to me.
To find out how these 'escaped' characters are handled, I tried to following.
<?
$string1 = 'My name is "T"';
$string2 = "My name is \"T\"";
print strlen ($string1);
print "<Br>";
print strlen ($string2);
?>
The output is:
14
14
So for lenght-purposes \" is identical to ".
