The MD5 algorithm normally returns a 128-bit message-digest. The PHP md5-function returns a
32-character string, but the documentation doesn't say what algorithm is used to convert the
128-bit message-digest to a string. This may cause serious problems in the future of an applications
life, since it's in the nature of a message-digest that it can't be converted to fit new
conditions.
