Just a note for some of you out there...when a function returns a value of 1 or greater, the
standard is that value is considered to be TRUE. However, if the value that is returned is less
than or equal to 0, or NULL, it is considered to be false. Therefore, the mail function returns a 1
upon success, and NULL upon failure.
