function bye() {
echo 'bye';
}
register_shutdown_function('bye');
exit;
will still echo 'bye';
but as the docs say
function thing() {
exit;
}
function bye() {
echo 'bye';
}
register_shutdown_function('thing');
register_shutdown_function('bye');
exit;
will echo nothing and exits.
