Looking into the mySQL manual I found that as already stated PHP and mySql have tow different time
stamping numbers. PHP is UNIX timestamp: seconds in GMT since 1970.01.01 00:00:00, there is a
function in mySql that supports converting SQL timestamp to unix.
select UNIX_TIMESTAMP('1997-10-04 22:23:00');
will return a number PHP likes for its date timestamp.
