The session related problem:
We are using Linux 7.1 and php 4.0 versions. We are using session/cookies in our application. Our
application can be accessed by IE/Netscape browsers. We have observed that on some windows machines
we cannot log into our application using IE browser. The login page is just refreshed & it
doesnt allow at all to log & use the application. But if u use netscape u can log on.
We tried after deleting the session related temp files created on The server, tried deleting
the temp files of cookies created on the Client rebooting the system, but the apllication cannot be
used on those machines using IE. But it can be used by IE on some other machines.
The problem of 2 sessions on one client:
If we open 2 seperate browser windows & log into our application, it does not result in 2
seperate sessions. Our application stores the user name, dept name, dept id, machine id in
session cookies. I open 1 browser window , I log in as x user. Then I open 2nd window & login as
y user. Now the first window user also becomes y & both become same user.
What we have observed is that only 1 cookie file is created on the client side & is overwritten.
But how can we then actually utilise this facility of sessions in browser , as 2 windows should open
2 sessions.
