the example code seems to be wrong:
<pre>
fputs($fp,"GET / HTTP/1.0nn");
</pre>
should be re-written as:
<pre>
fputs($fp,"GET / HTTP/1.0rnrn");
</pre>
The protocol (HTTP) requires "CRLF", not
"LF" or "CR", even though there are abundant wrongly written examples published
in the world.
