This post is in response of Rako's question.
I am actually using the exact same software configuration ( on Solaris 2.8 ) : Apache 1.3.26 and
PHP 4.2.1 and am not experiencing any trouble with the stripslash function.
I would suggest you check your php.ini file ( /usr/local/lib/php.ini ).
