Using ini_set to turn on register_globals won't do any good. register_globals, being in the
php.ini file, has already been set to default, and by the time it gets to your script, it won't
have registered them anyway. The whole basis of register_globals is to have use of them in your
script, but if you're trying to tell PHP to register it in the middle of the script (or even at
the beginning), it won't do it.
Something I've found works is as follows:
when trying to get session data to save somewhere aside from /tmp and your php.ini isn't
reading for some unknown reason, try this:
ini_set("session.save_path","users/sessions");
That will only set it for that script, but it gets the job done.
