I'm not sure if this is a bug? Or is it my mistake? $format="DM %'*10.2f"; $f=file('dm.txt'); foreach($f as $val) echo sprintf ($format,$val); works fine and outputs: DM ******1234.50 DM ********12.40 DM ********-0.46 but $format="DM %'*10.2f"; $fp=fopen('dm.txt','r'); echo "<br>"; while($formated=fscanf($fp,$format)) { print_r($formated); } fclose($fp); outputs: Warning: bad scan conversion character "ô" in test.php on line 8 (WAMP 4.0.2.dev) http://www.php.net/manual/function.sscanf.php
