Resolved my previous issue. configured php using --with-zlib and it got past THAT problem. I
switched back to PHP 4.2.1 and got further along. Now have problems on the make install.

[install-recursive] error 1
My make ran fine! I did have to comment out the #ifdef section of php_function.c to get it to work.
