i am somewhat new at this, but i think i just stumbled onto the fact that u can not create a
function named the same as your .php file. i wrote a function join() in an include file, and then
when calling this function from the file join.php, i got an error saying it could not redefine
function join(). i changed the function name, and works fine. i cant see what other reason would
cause this.
